Dave Schwensen
Dave Schwensen is the author of “Comedy FAQs - And Answers: How The Stand-Up Biz Really Works” (Allworth Press, NYC) and “How To Be A Working Comic: An Insider’s Guide To A Career In Stand-Up Comedy” (Back Stage Books, NYC). His insider’s knowledge of the comedy industry was earned as the booking agent for the legendary Improv Comedy Clubs in both Los Angeles and New York City, and as assistant to Improv Founder Budd Friedman, as well as being the talent coordinator for the television show, “A&E’s An Evening At The Improv.” While in that capacity, he also acted as a comedy consultant for many television and film productions such as “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Today Show,” Comedy Central, MTV, VH-1, HBO, Disney, Paramount and the major television networks. Schwensen is a nationally recognized comedy coach whose workshops & seminars are sold-out events throughout the country.
Mr. Schwensen has also been an entertainment journalist since 1993, with articles published in the United States, Canada and Japan. The author of two weekly columns on comedy and music, his reviews, interviews and behind the scenes exclusives have included entertainers such as Paul McCartney, Bill Cosby, Britney Spears, Drew Carey, Garth Brooks and many others. His newspaper humor column, “Something To Laugh About,” has been published weekly since December 1999. Mr. Schwensen lives in Vermilion, OH with his wife Debbie and their two sons.
